I started doing pencil/charcoal sketches as well as oil paintings a couple of years ago, prior to which I had been working almost exclusively with digital media. I'm really enjoying the more low-tech forms of art, because they enforce certain discipline in order to accomplish the wanted effect. Besides, they leave you with concrete "originals," are fun to work with, and are portable.
